Sassy has Sass

This is the first in a series of posts about toy recommendations.
First up - Bub's favourite rattles!

Just after the arrival of our son, my parents bought us a cute Sassy ring rattle and a gorgeous Alimrose Designs elephant rattle, as well as giving us a whole bunch of hand-me down teethers and rattles ("movers and shakers").

However during the first few months of the little tucker's life all his rattles seemed to make their way to the bottom of his toy box.
But just recently, in month 3, as Bubs' hand-eye coordination and grip have developed, he has fallen IN LOVE with rattles, especially his Sassy.

Apparently, the size and the shape of the big plastic ball on the Sassy ring rattle is very appealing to Bub. He can stick half the rattle ball in his mouth and suck and lick to his hearts content. The ball is about the size of a golf ball but the ring stops him from swallowing what would otherwise be a choking hazard. The handles also have a great bumpy, lumpy texture and I find that he can hold onto this rattle longer than others.

Do you have a baby, niece, nephew, grandchild who is going through the rattle/teether stage?
What toys do they love? Any recommendations?

P.S. Another note on the usefulness of newborn toys - Bub has a tendency to get a little bored and fussy during nappy changes lately and I find that giving him a rattle to play with helps keep him chipper whilst I'm mucking around with wipes and pants.

Do you have any tricks to keep baby happy on their change mat?

P.P.S
Coming up soon, a word on nappy rash!
